First, I want to thank you for your interest in www.savetheguns.com. Never before has an article enumerated in the Bill Of Rights undergone so much attack. The participation of more law abiding gun owners is fundamental to preserving the Right To Keep And Bear Arms. A little more than 95% of all gun owners do not belong to the National Rifle Association. Can you imagine what would have happened in the American Revolutionary War if only 5% of the Colonists were involved in the fight against the most powerful country in the world in the late 18th century? There certainly would not have been any type of revolution. The few people who really cared about liberty would have been quickly crushed. I do find it absolutely amazing that only 5% of all gun owners can make the difference that it has. Visualize for a moment what might happen if those numbers were turned around. Imagine that only 5% of all gun owners chose to sit on their hands when gun rights were attacked.  If you think that one person cannot make a difference, take a long look at what Samuel Adams was able to accomplish in the 1760's and 1770's. Then reevaluate that statement. I told you that I would try to keep my Minuteman Monthly Newsletters relatively short and to the point and I am trying.  In this very first issue, I just wanted to introduce myself and tell you a little more about what I am trying to accomplish with www.Savetheguns.com. I live in Massachusetts, the birthplace of the American Revolution. In fact, just 10 minutes from my home, there is a home that used to belong to a real Massachusetts Minuteman. I think it ironic that in this birthplace of individual liberty, there can exist so much of the contrary. Massachusetts has not been known as a stalwart defender of personal liberty in the last few decades. Lexington and Concord is little more than an hour away from where I sit typing this.  I became a Certified Firearm Instructor when I was about 21 years old. I taught about two or three courses a year for 13 years, and at age 33, I stopped teaching courses and started a web site called Marc's Gun Safety and Education Site. My initial goal was to get out the message of gun safety to as many people as possible and maybe save a few children from getting involved in an accidental discharge. In January 2000, I uploaded Marc's Gun Safety And Education Site to www.Savetheguns.com. I had to reevaluate my goals a little and focus more on getting lawful gun owners to get more active in helping to save the Second Amendment. At this point I would like to stress how important November 7, 2000 is to the future of gun rights in America. It is very likely that the next President of The United States will appoint 3 or 4 United States Supreme Court Justices. This is enough appointees to swing the balance of Supreme Court opinion to the anti-gun side. Likewise it is also likely that the Supreme Court will decide a very important case in the next few years regarding the original intention and meaning of the Second Amendment. Especially because of the recent government lawsuits against firearm manufacturers. Can you see a little more clearly why registering to vote and voting pro-gun is more important now than ever before? Many anti-gun Bills were kept from the floors of Congress because of the Republican majority in the House of Representatives and the Senate. A Democrat majority would ensure that anti-gun votes take place and are brought to the floor. If an anti-gun president were elected, we could see confiscation of lawfully owned firearms in the next few years as has happened in Australia and Great Britain. Feel free to forward, print, post and distribute this newsletter to your gun clubs, workplaces, message boards, bulletin boards or just forward it to your address book. The message must get out, there is more at stake than we know.
