Vote 2008Congratulations to the
anti-gun Democrats. You have power once again. This Page Last Updated 03/20/2008
So far, as of this writing, there are only a small handful of candidates for President of the United States that I could get excited about. After my entire lifetime of being a registered Republican, I'm seriously considering the Libertarian Party if this Republican lineup is the best we can come up with. My list of hopefuls is Duncan Hunter, Tom Tancredo and Ron Paul. Unfortunately these men are not getting any press or raising much money. The unfortunate thing is that all the Republican "front-runners" have an anti-gun history. Mitt Romney is an anti-gunner. You see, I was a pro-gun activist in the State of Massachusetts during the Romney Administration when he was the governor of the Bay State. We in the pro-gun community knew that if an anti-gun bill made it through the Massachusetts Legislature that it was as good as law. We knew that Mitt Romney would not stand tall and proud and defend the Bill of Rights. Now, Mitt Romney claims he is a pro-gun candidate. He claims he's a hunter, he has donned the camouflage and joined the National Rifle Association. Please do not be fooled by this surreptitious move of the Romney Campaign to portray him as a champion of the Second Amendment. He quickly signed any and every anti-gun bill that was handed to him by his anti-gun legislature. In the 2007 Republican Debate on May 15th Mitt Romney said "Let's get the record straight. First of all, there's no question that I support 2nd Amendment rights, but I also support an assault weapon ban. Look, I've been governor in a pretty tough state. You've heard of blue states. In the toughest of blue states, I made the toughest decisions and did what was right for America. I have conservative values." Romney cannot say that he supports the rights of gun owners, but supports a ban on semi-automatic firearms. He cannot have it both ways. A ban on any kind of firearm is a clear, brazen and bold violation of the Bill of Rights. He says that he made "the toughest decisions" and I say bull-crap! A tough decision would be to veto a bill that infringes upon the rights of gun owners even though his legislature wipes their behinds with the United States Constitution. HEY MITT, YOU CAN'T HAVE YOUR CAKE AND EAT IT TOO. YOU
CAN'T SAY YOU SUPPORT THE SECOND AMENDMENT BUT WANT A BAN ON SEMI-AUTOS.
YOU'RE Rudy Guiliani is just as bad on the Second Amendment or perhaps even worse. He's not even trying to hide from his anti-gun history. He openly and brazenly stood between New York City firearm owners and their Second Amendment rights under the Bill of Rights. He's not trying to bury his attacks on lawful firearm owners, rather he's standing on the fact that he proudly violated his oath of office while diminishing gun owner rights. John McCain has an anti-gun history as well. He supports banning of so-called "Saturday Night Specials" whatever they are. He also favors mandating trigger locks to some degree, which would diminish the use of firearms in self defense, making them immediately unavailable. McCain also said that he would support a ban on semi-automatic firearms depending upon the individual bill. C'mon John, did you spend all those years as a POW to come back here and diminish the Bill of Rights? Most of these Republican "front-runners" say that they support and defend the Second Amendment because they defend the rights of hunters to use firearms. This just goes to show how misinformed these men are. The Second Amendment is not about hunting at all. The right to keep and bear arms has nothing to do with shooting a game animal for the freezer, nothing whatsoever. The Second Amendment is about maintaining a final check and balance on the scope of government power and government aggression against the people of the United States. The right to keep and bear arms is about having an armed citizenry that's capable of keeping the door to American tyranny shut and locked. It has nothing to do with hunting at all. Please check out my Quotes page from the Founding Fathers and point out to me which one said the Second Amendment is about protecting hunters. I ask the reader to not let the liberal press tell you who the candidates for President of the United States are. If the press says that Rep. Duncan Hunter doesn't have a chance, don't listen to them. I ask you to vote for the person who you think will defend the Bill of Rights first. Then vote for a candidate based on other issues like taxes, abortion, our war on terrorism and so forth. If we vote for the Bill of Rights first, then everything else will be just fine. If you think the Libertarian Party has the best candidate, then don't listen to the press when they say this should be a two party nation and that the Libertarians don't have a shot at the White House. "Always
vote for principle, though you may vote alone, and you may cherish the
sweetest reflection "If we
have Senators and Congressmen there that can't protect themselves against
the evil temptations of lobbyists, we don't need to change our lobbies, we
need to change our representatives." "An honest
man can feel no pleasure in the exercise of power over his fellow
citizens" If you lawfully and responsibly own a firearm in the United States of America There are only a five ways that private citizens can affect change in their government.
For the vast majority of the law-abiding, the first three methods of affecting change in government are the means with which we will focus our efforts. However, I do heartily agree with the following quotations from James Otis and John Locke. "An act against
the Constitution is void. An act against natural equity is void." "Whenever the legislators endeavor to take away and destroy the property of the people, or to reduce them to slavery under arbitrary power, they put themselves into a state of war with the people, who are
there upon absolved from any further obedience." In these quotations, James Otis and John Locke seem to be saying that passed legislation that conflicts with the United States Constitution is null and void and should be regarded with bold degrees of civil disobedience. I agree with them both. As far as violent armed insurrection and overthrow of our own government goes, I do not support that drastic measure at this time. However, the notion was fully supported by the founding fathers as noted by the following three quotations:
"If the representatives of the people betray their constituents, there is no recourse left but in the exertion of that original right of self-defense which is paramount to all forms of positive government."
"Guard with
jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect everyone who approaches that
jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force.
When you give up that force, you are ruined."
"God forbid we
should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion.... And what country can
preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not warned from time to time, that
this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms.... The tree
of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and
tyrants."
Thomas Jefferson, in letter to
William S. Smith, 1787
One of the major reasons why I do not support an overthrow of our own
government here in the United States is because there are nearly no
God-fearing political geniuses involved in government affairs as there were in
the late 1700's and early 1800's. There are no James Madisons, no Thomas
Jeffersons and no George Masons in current-day politics.
I could not bring myself to imagine a group of individuals getting together
in modern-day America and doing a better job than the Founding Fathers
did. The Founding Fathers were, in my opinion, the most brilliant,
thoughtful, honest, hard-working and religious group of men ever to come
together for a single purpose in the history of mankind.
The possibility of a John Kerry, a Ted Kennedy, a Barbara Boxer, a Charles
Schumer and a Hillary Clinton forging a new Constitution, with a brand new
Bill of Rights scares me more than even death itself.
Any "on the fringe", pro-freedom, radical militia groups in America who advocate the overthrow
of our own government are justifiably angry and frustrated over the departure
from the Constitution's original design and intent. These groups are also angry over the wholesale
smearing of the Bill of Rights as well.
In my opinion, eight out of the ten enumerated rights in the Bill of Rights
have been misinterpreted and distorted to the point of outright infringement.
I could go over how I think the Bill of Rights have been destroyed by
judicial fiat, but that is not the intention of this Web site or this page.
Groups who advocate any degree of armed insurrection and overthrow, have
not completely thought out the consequences of not having a Thomas Jefferson,
James Madison, George Mason, a Benjamin Franklin or any of the other founders available to help reform a
government gone awry. Instead, we must work harder to get people into
elected office who know what America was supposed to be like in the vision of
the people who formed it.
"The only sure bulwark of
continuing liberty is a government strong enough to protect the interests of
the people, and a people strong enough and well enough informed to maintain
its sovereign control over the government."
Franklin D. Roosevelt (1882-1945), 32nd US President Campaign Finance Reform One of the most dangerous and openly unconstitutional efforts in America as of late is what has been benignly labeled Campaign Finance Reform. It has severely limited the rights of American people to say what they want and when they want about candidates for public office and current office holders. These types of efforts must be opposed every time they are proposed. Those that propose them should be sent back to the private sector as most of these laws are unconstitutional and limit free speech. "An unconditional right to say what one pleases about public affairs is what I consider to be the minimum guarantee of the First Amendment."
"It is my belief that there are “absolutes” in our Bill of Rights, and that they were put there on purpose by men who knew what the words meant and meant their prohibitions to be “absolutes.”"
"Criticism of government finds sanctuary in several portions of the First Amendment.
It is part of the right of free speech. It embraces freedom of the press."
"The interest of the people lies in being able to join organizations, advocate causes, and make political “mistakes” without being subjected to governmental penalties."
Open letter to the United States Democratic Party Democrats who are interested in helping out their party should read my thoughts. This is a special image that goes out to the anti-gun politicians who lost their seats in Congress in 2006.
Thoughts Chasing gun control legislation around Congress, is like trying to fix an old leaking water pipe with a sponge. We must change the pipes with new ones. We must vote out every member of Congress that does not observe the original intention of the Second Amendment and the Bill or Rights. Gun
owners comprise the single largest voting bloc of American Citizens. With
almost 80 million gun owners in America, why can't we have a permanently pro-Second Amendment
Congress? Please
Hear This!!! "Providence has
given to us the choice of our rulers, and it is the duty as well as the interest
of our Christian nation to select and prefer Christians for their rulers." Imagine a Supreme Court Chief Justice saying this today!!! What is the truth about the so-called "separation of church and state". Let me tell you a fact. The term "separation of church and state" does not appear in the Magna Carta, the English Bill of Rights, the Mayflower Compact, the Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights or anywhere in the United States Constitution or any other founding documents that I may have left out. See my quotes on morality and religion on my "Share The Solution" page. So you refuse to vote??? When you find someone who refuses to vote because they say their vote doesn't count or they're too busy or whatever, tell them:
When we don't vote, don't call, don't write and don't e-mail our elected officials, we hold all the hard won battles throughout American history in contempt. If we don't contact them when we disagree with them, they have to assume that we support what they're doing. Please vote, it's important!!! There are more gun owners in the United States, than the total number of voters in the 1996 election year... LET'S GO GUYS AND GALS!! NO EXCUSES!!! GET TO THE POLLS!!! Register to vote or register your guns. On this page, I will try to provide some good links and some sound advice on this MOST IMPORTANT upcoming election year. The 2008 election cycle will be extremely important. It is imperative that the Republicans retain control of the United States House of Representatives and the United States Senate. If the Democratic Party gains control of even one house of Congress in the 2008 election cycle, gun owners WILL be the biggest losers. In 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012, foreign policy, domestic energy independence and domestic monetary policy will be the most important aspects of the 44th presidency. For God's sake, please choose carefully. More Thoughts I believe that one of the reasons the Republican Party has lost its control of Congress in mostly because they've abandoned the traditional Republican stands of smaller and less intrusive government, and controlled spending. It has nothing to do with the American people wanting more gun control laws. Private and lawful firearm ownership by the Citizens of the United States was intended to be one of the major checks and balances on the scope of the power that government could have over its people. The fact remains clear and evident that the Democratic Party is being led by leftist factions within the party and they are not friendly toward lawful and honest gun ownership.
